Continuing its sustained drive against the illegal transportation of bovine animals, Police Station Surankote intercepted three vehicles and 01 padestrain (Bovine Smuggler) during naka checking and rescued 21 bovine animals.
During naka checking conducted by a police party of Police Post Behramgalla, three Tata Mobile vehicles bearing Registration Nos. JK12C 9109, JK12A 4054 & JK12B 9949 were intercepted and checked. During the checking, thrice vehicles were found carrying bovine animals, and a padestrain also apprehended who was involved to pushing the bovine animals.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the bovine animals were being transported without obtaining the requisite prior permission from the competent authority. Accordingly, FIR No. 305/2026, FIR No. 306/2026, FIR No. 307/2026 and FIR No. 308/2026 under Section 223 BNS read with Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act have been registered at Police Station Surankote.
Three vehicles were seized and all 21 bovine animals, have been rescued safely, and 04 persons involved in the illegal transportation including padestrain have been arrested.
Further investigation into cases is underway. District Police Poonch remains committed to curbing illegal transportation of bovine animals and ensuring strict enforcement of the law.
