Police Darpan J&K
Jammu, September 29: A severely damaged stretch of road at Shakuntala Chowk in Jammu has become a major concern for commuters and local residents. A large pothole, reportedly extending around 10 metres, has developed on the BC Road, making movement difficult and raising safety concerns.
Ambulances Struggle on Damaged Road
The poor condition of the road is particularly concerning for ambulances and other emergency vehicles. Vehicles passing through the damaged stretch are forced to move slowly and carefully to avoid the deep pothole and uneven surface. Patients travelling in ambulances may face additional discomfort and delays while crossing the affected portion.
Residents Demand Immediate Repairs
Local residents and commuters have expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the road. They say the damaged stretch has remained a problem and requires immediate attention from the concerned authorities. The pothole becomes especially difficult to navigate during adverse weather conditions when water can collect on damaged portions of the road.
Questions Raised Over PWD Maintenance
The condition of the BC Road has also raised questions about regular maintenance by the Public Works Department (PWD). Residents have urged the department to inspect the entire affected stretch and undertake durable repair work instead of temporary patching.
The public has called for prompt action to restore the road and ensure safe movement of vehicles, particularly emergency services. Timely repairs, they say, are necessary to prevent accidents and provide smoother connectivity to people using the busy route.
