Questions Over Electoral Rolls
Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has voiced strong concerns over the ongoing controversy surrounding voter lists and the electoral process. He said that questions related to electoral rolls should be addressed transparently and that voters must have confidence in the democratic system.
‘We Are Paying for Nehru’s Mistake’
Abdullah linked the present situation to a historical decision associated with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He remarked that the country is still facing the consequences of what he described as Nehru’s mistake. His statement has once again brought the political debate over the country’s electoral system and its historical decisions into focus.
Call for Political Change
Speaking about the need for change, Abdullah indicated that the issue was bigger than any individual political leader. He stressed the importance of protecting democratic values and ensuring that people’s voices are properly represented through elections.
He also made an emotional remark, saying that whether he remains alive or not, he wants to see change. The statement reflected his concern over the political situation and the future of democratic institutions.
Electoral Process Remains a Key Issue
The controversy over voter lists has become an important political issue, with opposition parties raising questions about voter registration, deletions and the accuracy of electoral rolls. Authorities and political parties have been engaged in discussions over ensuring transparency and preventing discrepancies.
Abdullah’s remarks are likely to intensify the political debate, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, where electoral issues remain closely linked with wider questions of representation and democratic participation.
