Doda (Jammu & Kashmir), Sept. 16: Security forces achieved a significant breakthrough in Doda district after recovering the decomposed body of a suspected foreign terrorist believed to be associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit. The body was found during a joint search operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police in the remote Divshetar forest area of Doda district. An American-made M4 assault rifle was also recovered from the site, indicating the suspected militant was heavily armed.
According to police officials, the body appeared to have been lying in the high-altitude forest for a considerable period. Preliminary investigations suggest the terrorist may have been killed during an earlier anti-terror operation in the snow-covered region, but the remains were discovered only after fresh searches in the area. Security agencies are working to establish the identity of the deceased through forensic examination and other available evidence.
Officials stated that the recovery of the M4 rifle is significant because such sophisticated weapons are commonly used by trained foreign militants operating across the border. The discovery has prompted security forces to intensify search operations in the surrounding forests to ensure no other terrorists are hiding in the region.
Additional police and army personnel have been deployed across sensitive locations in Doda district, while surveillance has been strengthened in nearby mountainous areas. Authorities have appealed to local residents to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or security agency.
The joint operation reflects the continued efforts of security forces to eliminate militant networks and maintain peace in the Chenab Valley region. Police officials confirmed that investigations are continuing, and further details will be shared after forensic reports and identification procedures are completed.
