Action to Be Taken Against Officials for Failure to Meet the Deadline
Jammu and Kashmir: The Omar Abdullah-led government has decided to bring the Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Fire and Emergency Services Department under the ambit of the Public Services Guarantee Act. Under this decision, fire NOCs will have to be issued within the prescribed time limit. The initiative aims to improve transparency in government services and ensure timely delivery of services to the public.
Fire NOC to Be Issued Within 21 Days
Under the new provision, applications for fire NOCs must be processed within 21 days. The move is expected to provide relief to building owners, business operators and various institutions by helping them complete fire department-related formalities within a stipulated period.
Accountability of Officials to Be Fixed
If applications are not processed within the prescribed deadline, the concerned officials will be held accountable. Action may be taken against officials in cases of negligence or unnecessary delays, as per the applicable rules.
Relief for the Public and Business Owners
A Fire NOC is an important document for ensuring fire safety arrangements in buildings and commercial establishments. Fixing a clear timeline is expected to help reduce delays in the application process.
The government’s decision is aimed at making public service delivery more accountable and improving the timely processing of fire safety clearances across Jammu and Kashmir.
