Katra, 04 September 2026:
- Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG Udhampur-Reasi (UR) Range and Sh. Awdesh Pathak, IPS, DIG CRPF conducted a joint security review of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and the enroute from Katra to SMVD Bhawan today.
- The joint security review was undertaken with the objective of assessing the existing security arrangements and ensuring effective implementation of security measures along the entire route leading to the Shrine.
- The senior officers were accompanied by Commandant, CRPF 6th Battalion, SP Katra, SDPO Katra, DySP Bhawan and other senior officers/personnel of the CRPF and Police.
- During the visit, the team conducted a thorough inspection of the Katra–Bhawan route, with particular focus on vulnerable locations and critical security points.
- The officers also inspected various checking and frisking points established along the route and reviewed the deployment of security personnel and the existing checking procedures.
- The security arrangements at important locations were assessed with emphasis on effective access control, frisking, checking, surveillance and coordination among the deployed security agencies.
- The senior officers interacted with the personnel deployed on ground and reviewed their preparedness, alertness and response mechanisms.
- Necessary directions were issued to the concerned officers for strict implementation of the prescribed security measures on ground and for maintaining a high level of vigilance throughout the route.
- The officers stressed the need for close coordination and seamless communication between the J&K Police and CRPF for ensuring comprehensive security of pilgrims and visitors proceeding towards the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
- The joint review reaffirmed the commitment of the security agencies towards maintaining robust security arrangements, enhanced vigilance and safe pilgrimage at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
