SRINAGAR, September 17: Srinagar Police have solved a major theft case by arresting three suspects involved in a series of burglaries across different parts of the city. Acting on specific intelligence and technical surveillance, police teams carried out coordinated raids and recovered stolen valuables, including gold ornaments, electronic gadgets, and cash from the accused. The operation is part of the ongoing drive against property-related crimes in the district. Police said the arrests were made after collecting CCTV footage, witness statements, and other evidence during the investigation. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused are linked to additional theft incidents. Recent police operations in Jammu and Kashmir have also targeted organized criminal and militant networks to strengthen public safety.
According to police officials, the accused had allegedly targeted locked houses and commercial establishments during late-night hours. After receiving complaints from residents, investigators formed a special team that tracked the suspects through multiple locations in Srinagar. During interrogation, the accused reportedly disclosed information about several thefts committed in recent weeks, leading to further recoveries.
Senior police officers appreciated the investigation team for its prompt action and directed all police stations to intensify night patrolling in vulnerable areas. Police have appealed to residents to install CCTV cameras, secure their homes properly, and immediately report any suspicious activity through local police stations or emergency helplines.
The recovery of stolen property has brought relief to several victims, and the identification process is being conducted before returning the recovered items to their rightful owners. Police officials said efforts are continuing to identify any other members of the network and recover additional stolen property if connected to the case.
Srinagar Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in preventing crime and ensuring the safety of neighborhoods across the city.
